Last night A.Allbright 1-800-PAINTING had the privilege to sponsor the SCV Youth Project's Sweet Charity Cake Auction.  Even though we didn't win the Top Cake Award, we were blessed by being there and seeing all the amazing people involved in supporting our local youth through difficult times in their life - for FREE!  Keep up the great work Kim Goldman and staff!   Also a big thank you for Jill with Jill's Cake Creations for all the labor hours to make our cake brilliant!  

Allbright Painting is extremely proud to announce this year’s 8th Annual Paint-It-Forward Charity recipient, The Magno Family.

Nominated by the Michael Hoefflin Foundation, the Magno family profile is made up of a mom, dad, two brothers (11 and 5 years old) and Brittany (17 years old).  Brittany was diagnosed with Brain Cancer on March 29, 2007.  A pure-cell germinoma was discovered at the base of her brain.  She has been through surgery for the partial removal of the tumor, followed by chemotherapy and radiation therapy.  She is now in remission and has recovered from the combined effects of all her treatments.  Brittany has an annual MRI screening to be sure that her cancer has not returned.  At this time Brittany is a cheerleader at Canyon High School and is planning on attending college.  Brittany and her family are very active in the community and will often speak and participate in events.  As you know, life is not easy for normal families, but for a family that has a child with medical needs all the time, painting a house does not have a priority and takes a back seat.

This year we decided to announce our give-away on Valentine’s Day to reflect the spirit of love that we have for our community and those that support us all year long by trusting us to be their painting company. 

After calling the Magno family to let them know that they won, we received this email from them: “Your call this morning was truly an answered prayer. I started to work on our house, but was having a difficult time in finding the time and money to do the work properly.  Again, thank you A.Allbright Painting. God Bless, Elm & Cheryl Magno”

We are honored to have the opportunity once again to “Paint It Forward” to those who are working through difficult hardships by providing them with painting services and adding some brightness to their lives.  The Paint-It-Forward Charity Give-Away was started in 2005 by the A.Allbright Painting employees to be able to give back to the community in a way that seemed appropriate.  We wanted to be able to help those in need by using the talents we have been given.  Each year A.Allbright Painting’s staff and customers consider all the worthy nominations that are sent in and they then vote on the family or organization that they feel is the most deserving.

On August 7th, 2012 the star of the Tonight Show, Jay Leno, brought the laughter to support a cause close to home, “Comics for the Cause” is a SCV Youth Project event that helps support at-risk adolescents. They help them in overcoming the challenges they face daily and avoiding behavior such as substance use, violence, unsafe sex, dropping out of school, bullying, peer pressure, depression, suicide, grief/loss, running away, and then some. Not only do they help the teens, but their families as well. A. Allbright Painting was happy to help sponsor this great event. We were even more excited to be able to attend it as well.  

Here at A. Allbright Painting we love giving back to the community, and in this one night only event: Comics for the Cause, we are able to do just that.

The Santa Clarita Valley Youth Project helps the youth in the communtiy with, crisis intervention, peer mentoring, parent support and group counseling.  Their mission is to provide a safe and nurturing enviornment where teens and families are strenghtened, empowered and equipped with the tools they need to live successful and fulfilling lives.

Arriving at the SCV Food Pantry Saturday morning on April 25th, 2012 for this year’s 7th Annual Paint-It-Forward event, I was overwhelmed with a sense of pride as I watched the team of A.Allbright employees begin this worthy project.  Over 18 employees showed up, with smiles on their faces, and ready to donate their time and talents to updating and enhancing the building at the SCV Food Pantry, an organization which is dedicated to making sure that no child in the Santa Clarita Valley goes to bed hungry.   Food Pantry volunteers were also on-site to support our efforts and offer assistance.  The day was spent prepping the exterior building by moving necessary items, masking doors and windows, spraying the building, painting the trim and metal roll-up doors, cleaning up, and overall enjoying each other’s company.  We even had Sherwin Williams’ Paint Company supply their highest quality paint (A-100 and Duration products).  To top it all off, the store manager Lance from Sherwin Williams brought a BBQ and cooked up a mean hot dog and hamburger extravaganza.  Working with people with this kind of dedication makes a project like this so rewarding.  After lunch, we were able to stand back and admire the updated new look of the SCV Food Pantry.  Belinda Crawford, the SCV Food Pantry’s Executive Director, was so thrilled that they were finally getting their building painted that she gave each of us a Food Pantry Cookbook of volunteers’ homemade recipes and Certificate of Dedication to A. Allbright Painting.  We’re already looking forward to next year’s event.  I guess that’s one reason why we call it “Paint It Forward.”

A.Allbright is proud to be an activity sponser for the Single Mothers Outreach's first annual family event in Santa Clarita – SCV Water Festival. It's going on right now!  August 6, 2011 from 4pm- 10pm at the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center.  Come on out and join us.  This is great opportunity for families to have fun together.  There will be games, music, rubber ducky races, water golf, a wonderful kid movie, food, and so much more. A. Allbright Painting, Inc. is extremely proud to announce that we completed painting the home of our 6th Annual Paint-It-Forward Charity recipient, Keri Ross, on Saturday, March 12, 2011. The Paint-It-Forward Charity Giveaway has been the highlight of our company year after year for the past six years, and this one was no exception.

It was a beautiful day - we couldn't have asked for better weather (we had postponed a couple of times already due to rain). We rolled up on her street as a company at 7:00 am sharp to start the fun. Keri and her son Josh were up early and awaiting our arrival with excitement. Some of the neighbors started to peer out their windows to take a look at what was going on. They were a little surprised when they saw all of our A.Allbright vans, along with a hot dog cart and popcorn machine surrounding the neighborhood, so they knew something was much different about this neighbor getting her house painted, and they were right.

The Ross family suffered a tremendous tragedy this past May. Keri's husband, Brad, suffered a massive heart attack at their home and passed away at Henry Mayo Hospital. He was only 42 years old. Keri is now left to raise their young 7-year-old son alone.

The plan to paint the exterior of the Ross family home went off without a hitch. All 25 of us broke out into teams, like the masking team, the prep team and the painting team. It went so smooth that we finished by lunchtime. Everyone was having a good time working together as a team and some of our guys brought their children to be a part of the giving experience. Josh Ross, who is 7 years old, was having the best time running around playing with the other kids and helping us paint. He surprised all of us by making a very special double-decker cake complete with a replica of his home made of candy on top. We were all so amazed at how creative it was and by his generous heart. Keri's words of "What a blessing this is" and Josh's chant (along with the other kids) of "Allbright Rocks! Allbright Rocks!" kept us all motivated.

The A.Allbright Painting Apprenticeship Program called Paint It S.M.A.R.T. stands for Single Mothers And Responsible Teens.

We are looking for a few good high school or college students that want to learn a trade who find themselves in a family home without a father to teach them. We have put together a summer program that consists of many different aspects of learning the painting trade and will help them gain the experience necessary to get a job down the road.

They will have a chance to gain experience with such important aspects like:

• Going on an interview
• Hiring process (including drug and background test)
• Orientation
• Classroom & safety training
• Reading manuals and books
• Learning craftsmen operating procedures
• Hands-on experience and team work

This program was developed by Joshua Abramson, the president of A.Allbright Painting for over 23 years, because this issue really resonates with who he is and the culture of the company. Josh is someone who came from a home with a single mother on welfare. It was very tough at times and he understands how hard it is to make it out there without a father to guide you, especially in these times. Josh is very thankful for those who have come alongside of him and have helped mentor him. Without these men in his life, he wouldn't have been able to grow his business to be what it is today.

"Reaching down, lending a hand, and pulling someone up" is part of the culture of A.Allbright. Our more experienced craftsmen have been training the younger guys through our "green" book, which consists of written-out procedures of how to do things "the A.Allbright Way." Part of our company's mission statement is that A.Allbright will always seek the betterment (improvement) of:

• its customers
• its employees
• its community
• its trade

At the conclusion of the Paint It S.M.A.R.T. summer program, the company and the students will be painting the SCV Food Bank building as a volunteer project. In addition, each student will receive a Certificate of Completion, and since they have learned skills necessary for a trade, they will be better able to gain employment with a variety of companies and quite possibly A.Allbright Painting.
