Paint it S.M.A.R.T™
Single Mothers And Responsible Teens (S.M.A.R.T.) is a program designed to help children of single mothers to gain the skills, experience and confidence to succeed in a work environment. A. Allbright Painting has developed a 4-week summer program that instructs participants in general work skills and in the painting trade.
Our participating teens will receive first-hand, guided experience in important life and work skills such as:
- Preparing job applications
- Going on job interviews
- Completing drug and background checks
- Classroom and on-the-job training and orientation
- Following instructions and working as a team
- Hands-on work experience
- Volunteerism and supporting a worthy non-profit organization
A. Allbright Painting is committed to community service and development. But our Paint it S.M.A.R.T.™ program is about more than charity; for Joshua Abramson, company president, it is a part of his own story. Josh grew up with a single mother who received welfare assistance, and he knows how hard it can be to succeed in those circumstances. He is very grateful for the men who came alongside him and mentored him in life, and he wants to do that same thing for others.
We accept applications all year, and our selected applicants will be invited to a job fair in May, where we will determine who will participate. The program begins in July, and at the conclusion of the training, Paint it S.M.A.R.T. will complete a charity painting project. In addition, each participant will receive a Certificate of Completion. This program will look good on a resume and provide positive references for future job applications, and could even lead to a full-time, permanent position at A. Allbright Painting!
This year Paint it S.M.A.R.T.™ will be painting the SCV Food Pantry building, located at 24133 Railroad Ave. in Newhall.
